For business travellers, missed or delayed flights, files of paperwork and lack of communication with your employees or employers, can make corporate travel a real headache, particularly if you haven’t got the support of a travel agency to fix all the issues that may naturally arise. These apps are guaranteed to take a bit of the pressure off.

Here are our top picks that won’t cost you an arm or a leg...

FlightView

This nifty app allows you to input your flight number and route where you’ll have access to all practical flight information, including delays, flight tracking, weather conditions and baggage claim information. The app will show you where your terminal and gate is, and how to get there, so you don’t get lost in a foreign airport. A great all-round app.

The free version contains quite a few annoying ads, but there is a paid option for $1, really affordable for the apps functionality.

Expensify

Keep track of all your business expenses in one place. The app allows you to take pictures of your receipts, which you can then manually edit in terms of dates, costs, etc. It also allows you to track your work time and travel mileage too. Submit your report whenever you need to via email.

The paid version starts at $5 per month, but there is a free version available. You’re only allowed to add a minimum of 10 receipts with the free version though.

Detour

If you have some time on your hands, then download Detour. Learn about a new city as you stroll the streets. This GPS-based audio app guides you through the city’s top highlights, with expert and local guides narrating the highlights of the area. A great way to learn a bit more about the city you’re in, without the pain of hiring a tour guide.

The app currently available in 17 cities around the world.

Express VPN

If you’re travelling to a country that has blocked access to certain apps, such as China for example, then Express VPN is your best friend. It encrypts user information and website traffic and allows you to access your apps from an incognito IP address. Enjoy unlimited access to information, regardless of where in the world you are.

Transfer Wise (one of our favourites)

A simple and cost effective way of transferring funds between countries. The app claims to be eight times cheaper than traditional currency exchange companies. The app has a network of virtual bank accounts in most countries. Log onto your account and transfer your funds into one of Transfer Wise’s accounts in the country you’d like to send your funds to. The recipient simply logs into their account, and has access to the money within 24 hours. It’s totally painless and really does offer the cheapest exchange rates in the business.

Travello

If you want to network and meet people with the same interests, then Travello is a great social app and has been voted by iPhone as one of the best social networking apps of 2019. Find fellow travellers easily, swap travel tips and tricks and make lifelong friends. You can share your travel plans easily and it even has a Wifi-finder function.
